I began my career as a Front-End Web Developer, building responsive websites and web applications for small businesses, nonprofits, and government agencies. I code and build websites using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, and MySQL integrated with open source content management systems, WordPress and Drupal.
As a senior web developer, I was responsible for wire-framing, development, information architecture, content, and testing and debugging. I developed structured timelines, SEO optimization, and analyzed web traffic and conversion rates using integrated analytics tools like Google Analytics and heat mapping technology CrazyEgg.
Over time, I discovered that my strongest impact came not only from building websites but from analyzing performance data and identifying opportunities for strategic improvement.
As a small business owner and consultant, I often wore multiple hats and took on tasks that exceeded the role of a traditional web developer. I evaluated target markets, assessed profit margins, refined service offerings, and translated business objectives into scalable technical solutions from content to custom application development. I regularly gathered requirements, aligned stakeholders, and converted high-level goals into measurable Key performance indicators (KPIs).
While I performed these tasks and grew my experience, I didn’t have a formal name for tasks performed beyond web development. I researched and learned that I was taking on the role of a digital strategist. My work experience and skills in data-driven decision-making, strategic thinking, and technical proficiency overlapped with business analytics. My experience analyzing market trends/data, mapping digital solutions to business goals, stakeholder communication, and project management formed the foundation for my transition into a Business Analyst.
As an Analyst, I currently focus on real estate development where I evaluate investment opportunities using market research, financial modeling, and property performance metrics. I analyzed neighborhood trends, rental demand, pricing patterns, and comparable properties to identify high-potential acquisitions.
I develop financial models to project ROI, cash flow, and long-term appreciation, and create dashboards to monitor occupancy rates, rental income, operating expenses, and overall portfolio performance. These reporting tools enabled investors to make data-driven adjustments and optimize asset performance.
I enjoy working with technology, data, and business strategy and intelligence. My skills set expanded to technical tools to include SQL, Excel, Power BI, Tableau, and Python.
